2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Frances Rose "Fran" Burkey of Joliet, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 27, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Fran Burkey was born in Globe, Arizona to Louis | ||||||
6 | and Mary (Krpan) Zdunich on January 10, 1939; she was one of 10 | ||||||
7 | children; she graduated from St. Francis Academy in Joliet; she | ||||||
8 | received her nurse's training at Little Company of Mary in | ||||||
9 | Evergreen Park; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing | ||||||
10 | at the University of St. Francis; she married Franklin Burkey | ||||||
11 | at St. Mary's Nativity of Joliet in 1962; together, they raised | ||||||
12 | 4 boys; and

13 | WHEREAS, Fran Burkey was an active member of First | ||||||
14 | Presbyterian Church of Joliet; she enjoyed traveling, the arts, | ||||||
15 | reading, nature, gardening, and bird-watching; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Fran Burkey was known for being gentle and wise, a | ||||||
17 | good listener with an open heart; for her, laughter came often | ||||||
18 | and easily; she loved nothing more than gathering with loved | ||||||
19 | ones to share food, music, stories, and humor; she will be | ||||||
20 | remembered as a loving wife, a dear sister, a devoted mother, | ||||||
21 | and a doting grandmother; and

1 | WHEREAS, Fran Burkey is survived by her husband, Frank; her | ||||||
2 | sons, John, James (Donna), Ben, and Loren (Amy); her | ||||||
3 | grandchildren, Grace, Caleb, Evan, Aaron, Tobias, and Olivia; | ||||||
4 | her brothers, Branimer, Nick, and Louis Zdunich; and her many | ||||||
5 | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
8 | Frances Rose "Fran" Burkey and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
9 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be | ||||||
10 | it further

11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to the family of Fran Burkey as an expression of our | ||||||
13 | deepest sympathy.
