SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Glenn Edwin Leable of Wadsworth, who
passed away on December 14, 2019; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Leable was born to Kenneth and Helene Leable
on October 18, 1950; he spent his childhood in Gurnee; he
attended Gurnee Grade School; he was an Eagle Scout; he
graduated from Warren Township High School in 1968; after one
year at Wright College, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in
1969; he served with the USMC in Okinawa, Japan and Cuba
through 1971; and
WHEREAS, Following his military service, Glenn Leable
worked for many years "building Gurnee" and the surrounding
communities with his father, brother, and uncles; he became a
certified millwright and built his beautiful, lifelong home
with the help of various family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Leable was a proud union millwright with
Local 1693; he worked in the Chicago area and out of state,
including maintaining power plants in Maine and Puerto Rico; he
used his skills to help his brother Larry install an F-111A
Aardvark jet as a memorial to other veterans in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Leable enjoyed spending time at his family
cabin in Alvin, Wisconsin; in recent years, he also enjoyed
saltwater fishing and beachcombing in the Bahamas with his
family; he was a proud father and grandfather, who relished in
passing along his knowledge of the 110-year old family dinner
roll recipe and family gardening secrets; he was a lifelong
Bears fan and dog lover; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Leable was preceded in death by his parents;
his brother, Larry Leable; and his grandson, George Leable; and
WHEREAS, Glenn Leable is survived by his wife, Rita Leable;
his son, Brett (Rachael) Leable; his daughter, Carissa (Bret)
Clinkingbeard; his sister, Barbara Leable; his aunt, Dorothy
Schneider; his uncle, Hank Schneider; his grandsons, Barret,
Bennet, and Emmett; and his many wonderful cousins, large
extended family, friends, and co-workers; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Glenn Edwin Leable and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Glenn Leable as an expression of our
