2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Wayne F. Machnich of Lake Bluff, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on May 17, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was born in Waukegan on April 26, | ||||||
6 | 1943; he grew up in North Chicago; he was a long-time resident | ||||||
7 | of Waukegan and lived in Lake Bluff for the last 22 years; an | ||||||
8 | Architecture graduate, he attended the University of Illinois | ||||||
9 | and Southern Illinois University; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich began working at Legat Architects | ||||||
11 | in 1968, where he served as president from 1983 to 2007 and | ||||||
12 | retired in 2013; he was a founding member of its Board of | ||||||
13 | Directors; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich served on the Architectural | ||||||
15 | Foundation Board of Southern Illinois University; he was | ||||||
16 | recognized with the SIU Alumni Achievement Award in 2007; he | ||||||
17 | was also the founder and past president of the Waukegan Schools | ||||||
18 | Foundation; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was an avid golfer, and he served | ||||||
20 | as the past president of the Glen Flora Country Club; he also | ||||||
21 | enjoyed traveling with his wife; together, they visited all 50 |

1 | states and all 7 continents, including Antarctica; and

2 | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich was preceded in death by his | ||||||
3 | parents, Gilbert and Angela Machnich; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Wayne Machnich is survived by his wife of 48 | ||||||
5 | years, Cheryl Machnich; his daughter, Tegan (Var Lordahl) | ||||||
6 | Machnich; his grandchildren, Everett and Quinn; his sister, | ||||||
7 | Corinne Nennig; and his nephews, Frank (Cindy) Nennig, Monte | ||||||
8 | (Cheryl) Nennig, and Mike (Michelle) Nennig; therefore, be it
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | Wayne F. Machnich and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
12 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
13 | further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of Wayne Machnich as an expression of | ||||||
16 | our deepest sympathy.
