2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Robert "Bob" Eugene Billiter of Morton, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on August 8, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bob Billiter was born to Joseph and Georgene | ||||||
6 | Conklin Billiter in Atlanta, Illinois on April 9, 1931; he was | ||||||
7 | a 1949 graduate of Atlanta High School and attended Illinois | ||||||
8 | State Normal University; he enlisted in the United States Army | ||||||
9 | in 1951; although he suffered from rheumatic fever and was | ||||||
10 | later hospitalized for six weeks while in basic training, he | ||||||
11 | served his country with the 5th RCT in Korea during the Korean | ||||||
12 | conflict from 1951 to 1953; he rotated back to the states the | ||||||
13 | day after the Armistice was signed in July of 1953; he married | ||||||
14 | Wanda Reinhart in Waynesville on June 13, 1954; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Upon returning from the service, Bob Billiter | ||||||
16 | worked briefly for the Atlanta Argus newspaper and for General | ||||||
17 | Electric in Bloomington; he then began work at the Cutler | ||||||
18 | Hammer Eaton Corporation in Lincoln; in 1993, he retired as a | ||||||
19 | senior buyer for Cutler Hammer Eaton after 35 years of service; | ||||||
20 | and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Bob Billiter was a lifelong member of the Atlanta | ||||||
22 | Methodist Church, where he served for many years on the |

1 | Administrative Council and Trustees; he was also an active | ||||||
2 | member of the Atlanta Methodist Men; he served on the Atlanta A | ||||||
3 | Team, as past president of the Central Illinois Purchasing | ||||||
4 | Association, as past president of the Atlanta Lions Club, and | ||||||
5 | as a trustee for the Abraham Lincoln Hospital Board from 1975 | ||||||
6 | to 1981, and he was a 67-year member of the Atlanta American | ||||||
7 | Legion Post 341; he said his most satisfying service to the | ||||||
8 | Atlanta community was as treasurer on the Atlanta Library Board | ||||||
9 | when the clock tower at the corner of Race and Arch streets was | ||||||
10 | constructed on the library grounds; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Bob Billiter loved spending time with Wanda, his | ||||||
12 | family, and friends at many Lake of the Ozarks resorts; in | ||||||
13 | 1984, he and Wanda purchased a cabin on the lake in Camdenton, | ||||||
14 | Missouri, where many fond memories were made with their | ||||||
15 | grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Bob Billiter was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
17 | and his two brothers, Edward and Joseph Jr; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Bob Billiter is survived by his wife of 66 years, | ||||||
19 | Wanda; his son, Kirk (Rebecca) Billiter; his daughter, Carolyn | ||||||
20 | (Gary) Henricks; his five grandchildren, Jenna (Lance) | ||||||
21 | Montgomery, Andrew (Rachel) Henricks, Derek (Kara) Henricks, | ||||||
22 | Dylan (Sophie) Henricks, and Kelsey Henricks; and his nine | ||||||
23 | great-grandchildren, Gracyn, Graham, and Sloane Montgomery, |

3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

5 | Robert "Bob" Eugene Billiter and extend our sincere
condolences | ||||||
6 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be | ||||||
