SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Louis Day Sr. of Springfield,
4formerly of Dawson, who passed away on September 23, 2020; and
5 WHEREAS, Robert Day Sr. was born in Lincoln to Lewis and
6Mary (Thomas) Day on November 3, 1942; he married Margaret
7Kitchen on September 6, 1975; and
8 WHEREAS, Robert Day Sr. served as the mayor of Dawson from
91993 to 2013; prior to becoming mayor, he served on the village
10board for four years; and
11 WHEREAS, Robert Day Sr. was a member of the American Legion
12Post 32 and the Navy Club of Sangamon County Ship 32, and he
13served as the commander of Ship 32 in 2016; and
14 WHEREAS, Robert Day Sr. was preceded in death by his
15parents and his brother, Terry Day; and
16 WHEREAS, Robert Day Sr. is survived by his wife of 45
17years, Margaret Day; his children, Robert Day Jr. (Jim Blasko)
18and Kara Day; his sisters, Gail Day and Karla Klindworth
19(Brett); his brother, Randy Day (Sherry); his aunt, Jane Rebbe;
20and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore,

2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Robert Louis Day Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
6further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Robert Day Sr. as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
