2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Carole A. Michels of rural Elburn, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on August 16, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Carole Michels was born on June 29, 1941 in | ||||||
6 | Aurora; her parents were Roy and Gertrude (nee Kroeger) Brown; | ||||||
7 | she married Jim Michels on December 1, 1962 at St. Therese | ||||||
8 | Catholic Church in Aurora; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Carole Michels grew up in Aurora and attended Oak | ||||||
10 | Park Elementary School and East Aurora Junior High School | ||||||
11 | before graduating with the first graduating class of the "new" | ||||||
12 | East Aurora High School in 1959; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Carole Michels | ||||||
14 | began her career as a secretary with IBM in Aurora and | ||||||
15 | developed the skills that served her well throughout her life; | ||||||
16 | after marrying, she moved with her husband to Oklahoma City, | ||||||
17 | where he was stationed as a commissioned officer with the | ||||||
18 | United States Public Health Service; they were later | ||||||
19 | transferred to Henryetta, Oklahoma before moving to New | ||||||
20 | Brighton, Minnesota; after moving to Norman, Oklahoma in 1968, | ||||||
21 | they returned "home" in 1969 to reside in Blackberry Township; | ||||||
22 | in 1974, she resumed her secretarial skills as the secretary of |

1 | the newly-formed consulting engineering firm Engineering | ||||||
2 | Enterprises, Inc. in Elburn; she then became active in the | ||||||
3 | Elburn Business Council and, in 1982, became a realtor with | ||||||
4 | Leuer Realty, where she was a "top producer" for most of her | ||||||
5 | 30-year career; and

6 | WHEREAS, Carole Michels was an active member of St. Gall | ||||||
7 | Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and | ||||||
8 | in many other positions; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Carole Michels was a member and president of the | ||||||
10 | Greater Aurora Association of Realtors and the Fox Valley Board | ||||||
11 | of Realtors and held several leadership positions with both | ||||||
12 | boards; she was a charter member of the Kane County Tourism | ||||||
13 | Association and a member of the Kaneland Foundation and the | ||||||
14 | Waubonsee Community College Foundation; she served as a | ||||||
15 | precinct committee person for Blackberry Township for many | ||||||
16 | years; she was one of the 7 founders of Kaneland Community Bank | ||||||
17 | (now American Bank and Trust) in Elburn; she was also the | ||||||
18 | Corporate Secretary Emeritus of Engineering Enterprises, Inc. | ||||||
19 | in Sugar Grove; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Carole Michels enjoyed life, entertaining family | ||||||
21 | and friends by cooking and baking, traveling with her family | ||||||
22 | and friends, and vacationing at Powers Lake, Wisconsin; and

1 | WHEREAS, Carole Michels was preceded in death by her | ||||||
2 | parents; 2 grandsons, Geno and Ryan Migliorini; her | ||||||
3 | mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marie and Ben Michels; her | ||||||
4 | brothers-in-law, Bob, Art, and Bern Michels and Jim McCue, Sr.; | ||||||
5 | and 5 nieces and nephews; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Carole Michels is survived by her husband, Jim; 2 | ||||||
7 | sons, Sean (Valerie) Michels and Todd (Jacqui) Michels; a | ||||||
8 | daughter, Denise (Brian) Migliorini; 3 sisters, Jean (Don) | ||||||
9 | White, Joan McCue, and Judy (Jim) Kreitz; 9 grandchildren, | ||||||
10 | Abby, Nick, Maddy, and Sophie Michels, Greycn, Alexa, and | ||||||
11 | Samantha Michels, and Gina and Nico Migliorini; 4 | ||||||
12 | sisters-in-law, Pat, Lil, and Lois Michels and Anna Marie | ||||||
13 | Avram; her brother-in-law, Nello Avram; and 44 nieces and | ||||||
14 | nephews; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
17 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Carole A. Michels; and | ||||||
18 | be it further
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Carole Michels as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our sympathy.
