| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Lanny R. "Steve" Biehler of Port Byron, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on March 28, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lanny Biehler was born on July 25, 1942, in | ||||||
6 | Freemont, Ohio; his parents were Leonard and Ada Mae Biehler; | ||||||
7 | he married Helen Bechtler on June 30, 1962 in Chicago; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, After graduating from high school, Lanny Biehler | ||||||
9 | served his country proudly in the United States Navy; he later | ||||||
10 | continued his education and received his Bachelor of Arts in | ||||||
11 | Electrical Engineering; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Lanny Biehler worked at KJWW in Rock Island, and | ||||||
13 | then at the Rock Island Arsenal as a Facilities Engineer, where | ||||||
14 | he retired after 20 years of service; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Lanny Biehler sang in the Augustana Oratori | ||||||
16 | Society and Black Hawk Community Chorus; he was also a member | ||||||
17 | of the River Valley Writers Group, the LeClaire Writers Group, | ||||||
18 | and the Midwest Writing Center and the Master Gardener at | ||||||
19 | Illinois State University; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Lanny Biehler had a deep faith in his Lord and |

| |||||||
1 | loved serving in his church, Messiah Lutheran in Port Byron; he | ||||||
2 | served on many committees and singing and playing the conga | ||||||
3 | drums in the church praise band; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Lanny Biehler wrote poetry, enjoyed gardening and | ||||||
5 | nature and was known as being a "Granola Head"; he also loved | ||||||
6 | cooking, brewing and drinking his homemade beer, reading for | ||||||
7 | the blind on the WVIK Public Radio Station, attending Via de | ||||||
8 | Cristo, and spending time with his family, friends, and | ||||||
9 | fiancee; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Lanny Biehler was preceded in death by his father, | ||||||
11 | Leonard; his wife, Helen, and his great-granddaughter, Serena | ||||||
12 | O'Hanlon; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Lanny Biehler is survived by his mother, Ada; his | ||||||
14 | fiancee, Lynn; his children, Chris (Will) Bradshaw and Thomas | ||||||
15 | Biehler; his grandchildren Emily, Katie, Therin (Abby | ||||||
16 | Blake-Bradshaw), Amber Bradshaw (fiance, Skyler O'Hanlon), and | ||||||
17 | Trey Bradshaw; and his brother, Jerry (Shirley) Biehler; | ||||||
18 | therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
21 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Lanny R. "Steve" | ||||||
22 | Biehler; and be it further
