Bill Title: Public safety officer contract negotiations. Requires a county, city, town, or township (unit) that does not have a procedure for resolution of an impasse in contract negotiations through alternative dispute resolution with an employee organization for the unit's police or fire department employees, to include in a written agreement entered into with the employee organization after June 30, 2019 that: (1) the parties to submit to nonbinding mediation if they fail to agree to a new agreement within one year after the existing agreement expires. (2) the agreement continue without any change in its terms and conditions until the earlier of the following: (A) The parties fail to reach an agreement after mediating the dispute, at which time the written agreement no longer binds the parties. (B) The date the parties execute a new written agreement.
