HOUSE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION

        A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the New Castle Little League.

    Whereas, The 66th Little League Baseball World Series, for 11 and 12 year olds, was played in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, from August 16 to August 26, 2012, with 16 teams from around the world vying for the title of World Champion;

    Whereas, The New Castle Little League won its first trip to the Little League Baseball World Series with a 6-5 victory over Warren County Southern Little League, Bowling Green, Kentucky, to win the Great Lakes Region Tournament;

    Whereas, The New Castle Little League team overcame a four-run deficit to score a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to win a slot in the Little League Baseball World Series;

    Whereas, The New Castle team overcame many obstacles to get to the Little League Baseball World Series, the biggest of which was the death of the team's long-time coach Danny Smekens, who died of cancer in 2011;

    Whereas, Pitcher Bryce Pinkard and his family also faced hardship last year when their home was destroyed by fire;

    Whereas, However, Bryce was the hero when he awoke to discover the fire in his house and was able to get his family to safety;

    Whereas, The New Castle Little League defeated its first opponent by a score of 4 - 0, but was unable to advance any further in the tournament;

    Whereas, Even though the New Castle Little League is not the World Champion, the members are an inspiration to all and are a talented and dedicated group of young men; and

    Whereas, Accomplishments of this caliber deserve special recognition: Therefore,
