SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION to honor G. Alan Barnett for his service with the Indiana Railway Museum, tourism, and the southern Indiana community.

                    

    Whereas, Mr. Barnett has given personally and professionally to his community through coaching little league baseball, serving as Treasurer of the Band Boosters, and his work on tourism in the region;

    Whereas, Mr. Barnett is proud to have two children, Jennifer Shipman and Michael Barnett, along with three grandchildren;

    Whereas, Mr. Barnett is the current President of the Indiana Railway Museum and has been for thirty-eight of its fifty-year existence;

    Whereas, Mr. Barnett served on the Museum Board of Directors for forty-four years and has been its President and General Manager since 1978;


    Whereas, Mr. Barnett has served as the President of the French Lick-West Baden Chamber of Commerce and as Executive Secretary for twenty-seven years;

    Whereas, Mr. Barnett has also been involved with the Lincoln-Hills-Patoka Lake Recreation Region, serving on the Board of Directors since 1979 and as President for three different terms;

    Whereas, Mr. Barnett was a board member for ten years and served as President for four years with the Southern Indiana Regional Marketing Cooperative;

    Whereas, Mr. Barnett served six years on the council representing Southern Indiana with the Governors Tourism Council and was an original member and organizer for the Orange County Tourism Commission, and also served ten years as its President; and

    Whereas, Mr. Barnett served on the Board of Directors for twenty-eight years, served two years as President, and currently serves as Treasurer for the Tourist Railway Association; therefore:
    

Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly honors G. Alan Barnett for his service with the Indiana Railway Museum, tourism, and the southern Indiana community.
SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate shall transmit copies of this Resolution to G. Alan Barnett.
