SENATE RESOLUTION


     MADAM PRESIDENT:

    I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:

    A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing Becky Hewitt on her retirement.

     Whereas, Becky Louise Scott was born on January 14, 1947 to parents, Betty L. and Corbett K. Scott;

    Whereas, After a childhood spent in Logansport, Indiana, Becky graduated from Logansport High School in 1965. Just weeks after graduation, Becky married Jack L. Hewitt on July 25, 1965;

    Whereas, Becky Hewitt was blessed with two daughters, Dana Kelley and Shelly Prentice, and three grandchildren, Bailey Nicole Kelley, Jacob Ryan Kelley, and Emily Marie Prentice;

    Whereas, Becky worked eight years with the Tribal Trails Girl Scout Council, instilling her wisdom in the minds of an entire generation of young women from Logansport. She then took a job as a legal secretary for Michael Boonstra in the Public Defender's office where she worked for seven years. This job was the beginning of a long career in the

Cass County justice system;

    Whereas, Becky devoted the next ten years of her life to working for the Cass County Prosecutor's office. After a decade helping bring criminals to justice, Becky retired from the prosecutor's office in March of 2011;

    Whereas, With retirement, Becky now has more time to spend on her many hobbies, including: auctions, antiques, basket-weaving, bird-watching, gardening, tole-painting, and watching sporting events, especially her grandchildren's games; and

    Whereas, Becky Hewitt has had an exemplary career in the Cass County justice system, and her retirement is well- deserved: Therefore,


Be it resolved by the Senate of the

General Assembly of the State of Indiana:


    SECTION 1. The Indiana Senate recognizes Becky Hewitt on her retirement from the Cass County Prosecutor's office.
    SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Becky Hewitt.
