An Act relative to certain environmental boating regulations and
penalties.
Be
it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section eleven of chapter ninety B of the
General Laws, as appearing in the 1996 Official Edition, is hereby amended by
inserting the following paragraph:—
(p) Adopt rules and regulations governing commercial whitewater rafting on the
rivers and streams of the commonwealth.
SECTION 2. Section fourteen of chapter ninety B of the
General Laws, is hereby amended by inserting the following paragraph:—
(d) Unless otherwise specifically provided in this section, whoever violates
any rule or regulation of the director promulgated under authority of section
eleven shall be punished by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars, or by
imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.
SECTION 3. Section ten H of chapter twenty-one A, as so
appearing, is hereby amended by striking out lines 14-17 and inserting in place
thereof the following new paragraph:—
A person notified to appear before the clerk of a district court as provided in
section ten G for violation of subsections (b), (c) and (e) of section eight,
section nine A or eleven of chapter ninety B, or the rules and regulations
promulgated pursuant to section eleven, may so appear within the time specified
and pay a fine of one hundred dollars.
