HOUSE BILL No. 4474

 

March 22, 2011, Introduced by Rep. Tyler and referred to the Committee on Local, Intergovernmental, and Regional Affairs.

 

     A bill to amend 1846 RS 16, entitled

 

"Of the powers and duties of townships, the election and duties of

township officers, and the division of townships,"

 

(MCL 41.1a to 41.110c) by adding section 1c.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1c. Except as otherwise specifically provided by law and

 

notwithstanding any charter provision, a township that is required

 

to publish a legal notice in a newspaper of general circulation in

 

the township may satisfy that requirement by posting the legal

 

notice in the office of the township clerk and on at least 1 of the

 

following:

 

     (a) The township's website.

 

     (b) The website of the newspaper designated by the township as

 

the official newspaper of general circulation in the township.

 

     (c) The public, education, and government channel operated in

 

that township.
