HOUSE BILL No. 5212

 

 

November 1, 2017, Introduced by Reps. Love, Moss, Greig, Neeley, Hertel, Gay-Dagnogo, Faris, Sowerby, Wittenberg, Geiss, Pagan, Elder, Ellison, Chang, Sabo, Lasinski, Clemente, Hammoud and Zemke and referred to the Committee on Elections and Ethics.

 

     A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled

 

"Michigan election law,"

 

(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding sections 483c and 957b.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 483c. If an individual receives compensation to circulate

 

a petition described in section 482, then the individual shall,

 

when circulating the petition for signatures, wear an

 

identification badge that does both of the following:

 

     (a) Identifies the individual as a paid petition circulator.

 

     (b) Identifies the person or entity paying the circulator.

 

     Sec. 957b. If an individual receives compensation to circulate

 

a recall petition under this chapter, then the individual shall,

 

when circulating the recall petition for signatures, wear an

 


identification badge that does both of the following:

 

     (a) Identifies the individual as a paid petition circulator.

 

     (b) Identifies the person or entity paying the circulator.
