HOUSE BILL No. 6373

 

 

September 25, 2018, Introduced by Rep. Lucido and referred to the Committee on Natural Resources.

 

     A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled

 

"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"

 

(MCL 324.101 to 324.90106) by adding subpart 3 to part 147.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

SUBPART 3

 

PFAS COMPOUNDS

 

     Sec. 14741. As used in this subpart:

 

     (a) "Department" means the department of environmental

 

quality.

 

     (b) "PFAS" means perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl

 

substances.

 

     Sec. 14742. Not later than December 31, 2019, the department

shall promulgate rules regulating the handling, storage, disposal,

 

and cleanup of PFAS. The rules must ensure the protection of public

 

health, safety, welfare, and the environment.
