HOUSE BILL NO. 6533

A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

"Public health code,"

(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding sections 5116 and 9228.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 5116. If a local health officer confirms or reasonably suspects that an individual attending school or a program of group residence, care, or camping has a communicable disease and that there is a risk of the spread of the communicable disease, or a local health officer confirms or reasonably suspects that there is a risk of the spread of a communicable disease within the community for which a vaccine is available, the local health officer may exclude from attendance any of the following individuals until the local health officer determines that there is likely no further risk of the spread of the communicable disease:

(a) An individual lacking a certificate described in section 9206 indicating that the individual has been immunized for the communicable disease.

(b) An individual whom the local health officer otherwise considers susceptible to the communicable disease.

Sec. 9228. The department shall inform the public of the rules promulgated under section 9227(1)(a) to (c) through the use of mass media and by posting the rules on the department's website.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days after the date it is enacted into law.
