1.1A bill for an act
1.2relating to state government; prohibiting officers of major political parties from
1.3being employed by the legislature;amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, section
1.43.07.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

1.6    Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 3.07, is amended to read:
1.73.07 ADDITIONAL EMPLOYEES.
1.8Each house, after its organization, may appoint and at pleasure remove the employees
1.9provided for by its permanent rules or recommended by its Committee on Rules. The
1.10house of representatives, the senate, or a joint legislative commission or joint legislative
1.11office may not employ a person who is an officer of the statewide organization of a major
1.12political party, as defined in section 200.02, subdivision 7. All officers and employees shall
1.13receive the compensation provided by the permanent rules of the electing or appointing
1.14body or recommended by its Committee on Rules. Unless otherwise expressly provided
1.15by law, no officer or employee shall receive any other compensation for services.
