1.1A Senate resolution
1.2congratulating the Grand Rapids High School boys hockey team on winning
1.3the 2017 State High School Class AA boys hockey championship.
1.4WHEREAS, competitive sports in our high schools are helpful in teaching the principles of
1.5sportsmanship and fair play, thereby contributing to better citizenship; and
1.6WHEREAS, the Grand Rapids hockey team was one of eight teams that participated in the
1.72017 State High School Class AA boys hockey tournament from March 9-11, 2017; and
1.8WHEREAS, after beating Maple Grove 6-4 in the quarterfinals and Eden Prairie 3-2 in the
1.9semifinals, they defeated Moorhead 6-3 in the final game of the tournament in front of a crowd of
1.1019,109 at the Xcel Energy Center to win the state championship; and
1.11WHEREAS, the Thunderhawks finished the season with an excellent 23-7-1 record; and
1.12NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Minnesota that
1.13congratulations are extended to the members of the Grand Rapids High School boys hockey team
1.14for their sportsmanship and skill.
1.15BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is directed to prepare an
1.16enrolled copy of this resolution, to be authenticated by the Secretary's signature and that of the
1.17Chair of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, and transmit it to the principal of Grand
1.18Rapids High School.
