AN ACT

To amend chapter 1, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to daylight saving time elimination.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:

Section A. Chapter 1, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 1.340, to read as follows:

1.340. 1. This section shall be known and referred to as the "Daylight Saving Time Elimination Act" and the enactment of this section shall signal Missouri's entry into a Daylight Saving Time Elimination Pact with any other state desiring to abstain from observation of daylight saving time.

            2. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary by the United States government relating to the adoption of daylight saving time by all of the states, the state of Missouri hereby exempts all areas of the state from the daylight saving time provisions of 15 U.S.C. Section 260a. The provisions of this section shall only take effect when at least twenty-five states have passed legislation to enter their respective state into the Daylight Saving Time Elimination Pact, with each member state of the pact stopping the observation of daylight saving time on January first of the year following the entry of at least twenty-five states into the pact.
