AN ACT

To amend chapter 170, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to student participation in interscholastic activities.




Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the state of Missouri, as follows:


            Section A. Chapter 170, RSMo, is amended by adding thereto one new section, to be known as section 170.042, to read as follows:

            170.042. Notwithstanding any law, school or school district policy, or any eligibility standards issued by the Missouri State High School Activities Association, any student enrolled in a public school in this state shall be ineligible to participate in interscholastic activities at the middle school, junior high, or high school level upon receiving a failing grade in any course. Students failing one or more course in a report card grading period shall be ineligible for participation in any interscholastic activity in the subsequent report card grading period. Students may resume participation if passing grades are achieved in all courses immediately following the report card grading period in which a failing grade was received.
