House Bill 1262

AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SHALL ESTABLISH A GRANT PROGRAM TO PROVIDE GRANTS TO RURAL HOSPITALS TO DEVELOP, IMPLEMENT AND/OR ENHANCE THE USE OF TELEMEDICINE SERVICES AND TELEMEDICINE TECHNOLOGY IN THE HOSPITAL EMERGENCY ROOMS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The State Department of Health shall establish a grant program, with funds appropriated to the department for that purpose, to provide grants to rural hospitals to develop, implement and/or enhance the use of telemedicine services and telemedicine technology in the hospital emergency rooms.

     (2)  The department shall adopt rules and regulations governing the program, including the criteria for receipt of the grants, the application process for the grants, and the maximum amount of the grants.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2023.
