AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF RANKIN COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO ENTER INTO CERTAIN ROAD IMPROVEMENT  CONTRACTS REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE CONTRACTS MAY EXTEND BEYOND THIRTY DAYS FROM THE TERMINATION AND END OF THE TERM OF OFFICE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AWARDING THE CONTRACTS; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  (1)  The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County, Mississippi, is authorized, in its discretion, to receive competitive bids and enter into the following roadway construction contracts:

          (a)  Old Fannin Road Improvement Project (MDOT Project Identification HPP-7331-00(005)/104626-801000);

          (b)  Erlich Road Bridge Project (MDOT Project  Identification STPD 0061(24)B);

          (c)  Monterey Road Improvement Project;

          (d)  Andrew Chapel Road Improvement Project; and

          (e)  Erlich Road Extension Improvement Project.

     (2)  The Board of Supervisors of Rankin County may enter into contracts as authorized in this section for any length of time as may be determined by the board of supervisors regardless of whether the contracts may extend beyond thirty (30) days from the termination and end of the term of office of the members of the board of supervisors awarding the contracts.

     (3)  The provisions of this section shall be repealed from and after December 31, 2012.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
