House Bill 1522

AN ACT TO RESTORE THE RIGHT OF SUFFRAGE TO MR. FRANKIE O'NEAL WARD, JR., OF JEFFERSON DAVIS COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The right of suffrage is hereby fully and completely restored to Mr. Frankie O'Neal Ward, Jr., of Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi, who was disqualified as an elector as a result of his conviction for the crimes of Armed Robbery, Grand Larceny and Kidnapping on August 16, 2002, in Simpson County, Mississippi, for which he was sentenced to serve ten (10) years for each crime of Armed Robbery and Kidnapping and three (3) years for Grand Larceny in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections followed by five (5) years probation.  All sentences ran concurrently.

     He completed all terms and conditions of his sentence and was discharged on March 29, 2016.  The Legislature is informed that he has since conducted himself as a law-abiding and honorable citizen in a good and lawful manner.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
