A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MOLLY LEWELLEN UPON RECEIVING THE DISTINCT HONOR AND PRIVILEGE OF HOLDING THE TITLE OF 2016 MRS. MISSISSIPPI UNITED STATES.

     WHEREAS, on January 9, 2016, Molly Lewellen of Ripley, Mississippi, was crowned Mrs. Mississippi United States; and

     WHEREAS, holding the distinct honor and privilege of Mrs. Mississippi United States, Mrs. Lewellen will represent the State of Mississippi in the Mrs. United States National Pageant in August along with approximately 51 other contestants, in Las Vegas, Nevada; and

     WHEREAS, Mrs. Lewellen is married to Sam Lewellen and together they have a three-year-old son named Wyatt; and

     WHEREAS, originally from Ripley, Mississippi, Mrs. Lewellen and her husband have established their home and business in their native mainstay, Lewellen's Corner, a salon and clothing store, located in downtown Ripley on South Main Street; and

     WHEREAS, since being crowned Mrs. Mississippi United States, Mrs. Lewellen has enjoyed participating in many local and regional events, from volunteering with the Tippah County School system, to sharing her testimony as to what led her to compete for Mrs. Mississippi United States, she has touched the hearts of many people and inspired them to pursue their dreams as she did winning Mrs. Mississippi United States; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to share in the enthusiasm of citizens of this state as they represent Mississippi through such outstanding and great competitions, such as Mrs. Lewellen as she serves as Mrs. Mississippi United States and competes for the title of Mrs. United States:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Mrs. Molly Lewellen upon receiving the distinct honor and privilege of holding the title of 2016 Mrs. Mississippi United States, and extend best wishes for success as she competes in the Mrs. United States national competition.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Mrs. Molly Lewellen and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
