WHEREAS, the Northwest Rankin High School Boys "Cougars" Soccer Team finished the 2016-2017 season in grand fashion, defeating Ocean Springs 2-0 on February 4, 2017, to take home the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 6A State Championship; and

WHEREAS, the Cougars had previously won the state championship on three occasions when they were classified as a 5A school, but this is the team's first championship win since they were reclassified as a 6A school; and

WHEREAS, the Cougar's team statistics were impressive, and there were outstanding headers, strikes, penalty kicks and goals by individual players, but the key to this team's success has been the constant team atmosphere and year-round hard work; and

WHEREAS, the Northwest Rankin Boys Soccer Team is comprised of very talented and distinguished young men, who ultimately catapulted them to winning their first 6A State Championship:  Joe Ben Flynt, GK; Carson Tackett, GK; JJ Kaler, MF; Devon Williams, D, MF; Wesley Jacobs, D; Charlie Ladd, FORW; Donovan Swan; Chandler Shirley, FORW; Ty Ware, FORW; Jarrett McHenry, D, MF; Dalton Rogers, MF; Peyton Ratcliff, MF; Will Hughes, D; Lawson Lyle, MF; Chris Rodrigo, MF; Adrian Mondragon, MF; Ryan Bell, FORW, MF; Michael Hoey, D; Santiago Diosa; Andrew Craig; Gavin Gaudin; Justin Whittington; Ryan Luse; Dylan Little, MF; Caden King; Sumner Richardson, D; Omar Zein, D; Lucas Jaeger; Sebastian Alderman; Walker Smith; Aaron Lincoln; Bryce Bowling, FORW; Matthew Hackler; Hasam Mohamed, MF; Al Bouldin, FORW; Palmer Pearson, D; Austin Lincoln; Travis Parks, GK; Michael Hardy, GK; and Houston Smith, GK; and

WHEREAS, the Cougars have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Chris Gardner, who has broadened the Cougar's knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
