A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE COPIAH-LINCOLN COMMUNITY COLLEGE LADY WOLVES BASKETBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY AND JUNIOR COLLEGES STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves Basketball Team reigns supreme after finishing the 2014-2015 season with an undefeated record of 26 wins and 0 losses and capturing the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Championship; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Wolves' unparalleled determination led to this championship title, the culmination of their truly remarkable season in which they defeated Jones County Community College in the semifinals before earning the elite gold ball on February 26, 2015, with a dominating 78-60 win against the Meridian Lady Eagles; and

     WHEREAS, to claim this illustrious victory, the Lady Wolves relied on their swift feet, accurate shooting and strategic defensive moves to stop the Meridian offense and outmaneuver the Eagles' defense; and 

     WHEREAS, Head Coach Gwyn Young is a dynamic leader whose vision for winning championships is 20/20, as this title marks his eighth trophy during his 37 years of motivating and coaching the Lady Wolves; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Young and assistant coach, Nikki Williams, were pivotal in the development of the Lady Wolves' execution and strategies this season, and their passion for the team, merged with their impeccable leadership, created an unstoppable dynamic; and

     WHEREAS, the 2014-2015 Lady Wolves' championship basketball team is comprised of the following athletes:  Tyra Gibson, Kelley Allen, Jamilah Sanders, Tenazhia Hinkeson, Claresa Banks, Alexis Collins, Kentija Tarleton, Toni Woods, Caroline Lumpkin, Kybri Keyes, Arnissayur Robinson and Kristal Flowers; and

     WHEREAS, the Lady Wolves have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and an outstanding degree of sportsmanship, and their activities reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring great honor to Copiah-Lincoln Community College; and

      WHEREAS, the members of this team will carry the memories and lessons of hard work, dedication and perseverance learned during this amazing season throughout their lives; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend excellence, such as that displayed by the Lady Wolves basketball team, and it is with great pride that we congratulate this group of student athletes and their coaches, who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Lady Wolves Basketball Team upon winning the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in all of their future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Head Coach Gwyn Young, Assistant Coach Nikki Williams and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
