House Resolution 18

(As Adopted by House)

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING AMELIA GRACE MOREHEAD UPON HER NUMEROUS ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS AND BEING ENROLLED AS A JUNIOR AT MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE AT JUST 17.

WHEREAS, in August 2019, Amelia Grace Morehead will begin classes as a junior at Mississippi College, which would seem normal except that she is only 17 years old, so her enrollment signifies more than it normally would, as a true testament to her academic excellence and dedication to greatness; and

WHEREAS, born on August 19, 2002, Amelia's parents knew she was intellectually gifted from a young age, as she learned to read when she was just three years old and was completing 8th and 9th grade coursework when she was only ten years old; and

WHEREAS, Amelia graduated from Bridgeway Academy Homeschool High School on June 8, 2017, at the young age of 14, with a 4.21 GPA and 15 hours of dual enrollment from Copiah-Lincoln Community College; and

WHEREAS, on December 12, 2018, at the age of 16, Amelia graduated from Copiah-Lincoln Community College with the highest honors as a Phi Theta Kappa member and as a 2018 William Winter Student Scholar and 2018 State Farm Foundation Scholarship Winner; and

WHEREAS, Amelia will undoubtedly succeed as she continues to further her education through her undergraduate studies at Mississippi College, and during her tenure, she will excel academically as she has in the past and serve as an inspiration and positive role model for all those who have the opportunity to study and work with her; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the youth of Mississippi, especially those such as Amelia Grace Morehead, whose academic accolades have brought glory and honor to her parents, her community and to the great State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Amelia Grace Morehead upon her numerous academic achievements and being enrolled as a junior at Mississippi College at just 17, and express sincere wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Amelia Grace Morehead and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
