A RESOLUTION COMMENDING HEAD COACH BRIDGET CARMODY FOR BEING NAMED THE 2021 NATIONAL FEDERATION OF HIGH SCHOOL COACHES ASSOCIATION'S COACH OF THE YEAR FOR SWIMMING AND DIVING.

     WHEREAS, Bridget Carmody, head coach of the Madison Central High School swim program, has been named the 2021 National Federation of High School Coaches Association's Coach of the Year for swimming and diving; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Carmody, who has coached the Madison Central swim team since 2012, was also named the boys swimming and diving Coach of the Year by the Mississippi High School Activities Association in early 2021, and she has also served as Madison Central's French teacher for 27 years; and

     WHEREAS, Madison Central has marked several milestones while under Coach Carmody's leadership:  both the boys and girls swim teams won the Class II state championship in October 2021, the second year in a row both teams took the title in the same year; the girls team claimed the title for the past eight years; and the 2020 championship marked the first state title for the boys team in more than two decades; and

     WHEREAS, throughout her tenure at Madison Central, Coach Carmody's expertise, encouragement and positive influence on each team member has exponentially advanced the swim team, and is a testament of the true value that she not only provides to the  team, but to the sport of swimming overall; and

     WHEREAS, Coach Carmody has transformed each member of the swim team into the championship caliber athletes that they are today, broadened their knowledge of the sport, refined their skills in execution and equipped each of them to realize their full potential and reach their goals; and

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor great Mississippi educators, especially those such as Coach Carmody, who radiates excellence and inspires all those who have the opportunity to learn and flourish under her tutelage to be better than the day before:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Head Coach Bridget Carmody for being named the 2021 National Federation of High School Coaches Association's Coach of the Year for swimming and diving, and extend best wishes for continued success in all of her future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Bridget Carmody and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
