A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THEO CAROUTHERS UPON BEING NAMED THE 2023 MISSISSIPPI TRUCK DRIVER OF THE YEAR.

WHEREAS, Mr. Theo Carouthers, a resident of Okolona, Mississippi, and an employee of Morgan Van Lines of Booneville, Mississippi, has been awarded the distinct honor of being named Mississippi's Truck Driver of the Year for 2023; and

WHEREAS, this honor reflects the hard work and dedication required from all transportation professionals and Mr. Carouthers has demonstrated that he represents the very best of his profession; and

WHEREAS, the truck driving profession requires a significant emphasis on both productivity and safety, skill sets that Mr. Carouthers has evidenced and shown a strong commitment to both in his 35 years of driving, having driven over 3.6 million accident-free miles in the span of his career; and

WHEREAS, in addition to Mr. Carouthers' outstanding professional career, he further distinguishes himself with volunteer service as Ministry Leader of Meals for Many for St. John Missionary Baptist Church by setting menus, cooking and providing hot meals to the needy in his community; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Carouthers exemplifies the image of the true driving professional with his commitment to public safety, his commitment to helping those in need and with a steadfast commitment to bettering his community and the State of Mississippi as a whole; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize fine Mississippians, especially those such as Mr. Carouthers who represents both true professionalism and a commitment to bettering the motoring public's safety by leading his profession forward:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Theo Carouthers upon being named the 2023 Mississippi Truck Driver of the Year, express gratitude for his hard work and commitment to safety and extend most sincere wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Theo Carouthers and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
