House Resolution 83

A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MISSISSIPPI SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF BULLDOGS FOOTBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.

     WHEREAS, the 2015 Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs Football Team punctuated an excellent season by winning the 2015 National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association 8-Man National Championship, achieving the highest order of national acclaim and honor, while earning themselves a permanent place in the school's athletic history books; and

     WHEREAS, the Bulldogs were unstoppable against fellow 8-man teams, recording an 8-0 record over the course of the season; and

     WHEREAS, this Bulldogs team has demonstrated the highest measure of dedication and commitment to their team, playing true football day in and day out, in practices and in their games; and

     WHEREAS, an exceptionally talented team, the 2015 Bulldogs have a long history of excellence; recently, their accolades include the 2013 National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association 8-Man National Championship and the 2014 NDIAA 8-Man National Champion Runner up; and

     WHEREAS, led by Head Coach Gordon Weir and Assistant Coach John McMahon, the national championship roster includes three  All-Americans, including:  Ricky Church, Jerome Smith and 2015 National Championship MVP Darius Trice; and 

     WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and honor the achievements of student athletes such as the Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs Football Team who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs Football Team for completing an excellent 8-0 winning season, capturing the National Deaf Interscholastic Athletic Association 8-Man National Championship, and extend best wishes to the team and coaches for continued success in all of their future athletic and academic endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Gordon Weir, Mississippi School for the Deaf Athletic Director Holly Reichle and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
