A RESOLUTION COMMENDING CHICKASAW COUNTY SHERIFF JIMMY SIMMONS UPON RETIREMENT AFTER 24 YEARS OF FAITHFUL SERVICE AND WISH HIM SUCCESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

     WHEREAS, Chickasaw County will lose one of its most faithful and brave public servants, when its county sheriff, Jimmy Simmons retires this year; and

     WHEREAS, Sheriff Simmons has bravely defended the citizens of  Chickasaw County and led his officers triumphantly in their fight against crime; and

     WHEREAS, a true soldier at heart, before earning the title of sheriff, he served as a distinguished member of the Mississippi National Guard for six years; and

     WHEREAS, after leaving the military, he served as deputy sheriff for six years before being elected sheriff; and

     WHEREAS, he will be greatly missed as sheriff by the citizens of Chickasaw County, but will be ever present as a citizen in the county, ready to advise if necessary; and

     WHEREAS, during his retirement, he plans to indulge further in his hobbies of hunting, fishing and trading; and

     WHEREAS, it is the  policy of the House of Representatives to honor the dedication of long time public servants, such as Sheriff Jimmy Simmons, whose works have greatly improved our communities:

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend Chickasaw County Sheriff Jimmy Simmons upon his retirement after 24 years of faithful service, and wish him success in all of his future endeavors.

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Sheriff Jimmy Simmons and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
