AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE AND DIRECT THE STATE PERSONNEL BOARD TO AMEND THE VARIABLE COMPENSATION PLAN AS NECESSARY TO AWARD A 15% SALARY REALIGNMENT TO EACH MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS CORRECTIONAL OFFICER, PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICER WHOSE SALARY IS LESS THAN $40,000.00 AND FUNDED BY THE STATE GENERAL FUND; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

     SECTION 1.  The State Personnel Board and the responsible officer of the Mississippi Department of Corrections are hereby authorized and directed, on July 1, 2015, to grant a fifteen percent (15%) realignment in salary to each full-time correctional officer and probation and parole officer whose salary is less than Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) and whose salary is funded by the State General Fund pursuant to appropriation therefor by the Legislature, which increase shall be an amount of fifteen percent (15%) that sum which is the annual compensation of the employee in effect on June 30, 2015.  Such part-time MDOC employee shall receive a pro rata share of a fifteen percent (15%) salary realignment based on the amount of time worked per week.  The State Personnel Board shall amend the State Variable Compensation in accordance with this requirement.

     SECTION 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 2015.
