A RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE LEX LEMMERS, DIRECTOR OF PROGRAM MANAGEMENT AND RESIDENT ENGINEERING AT PACCAR ENGINE COMPANY IN COLUMBUS AS THE 2023-2024 MISSISSIPPI MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION (MMA) CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD.

WHEREAS, we join the membership of the Mississippi Manufacturers Association and the citizens of Central Mississippi in honoring the business and civic accomplishments of a respected businessman; and

WHEREAS, Lex Lemmers, Director of Program Management and Resident Engineering at PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, was named the 2023-2024 Mississippi Manufacturers Association's (MMA) Chairman of the Board of Directors on October 3, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Lemmers was named Plant Manager at the PACCAR Engine Company plant in Columbus in January 2007 for its build and startup. He began his career with PACCAR in 1996 by working for their European Division DAF Trucks, which is in the Netherlands. He is a graduate of the University of Alkmaar (Netherlands) and earned his master's degree in manufacturing systems engineering at Warwick University (United Kingdom); and

WHEREAS, "Lex brings a tremendous amount of experience to his new position as Chairman of the Board," said MMA President and Chief Executive Officer John McKay. "As a key member of PACCAR's startup team in 2007, he is keenly aware of what it takes to help bring jobs to our state and the role MMA plays in helping craft business-friendly policy in Mississippi. He will be an asset to industry in Mississippi"; and

WHEREAS, for more than 70 years, the Mississippi Manufacturers Association has represented the interests of Mississippi's manufacturers at both the state and national levels. As the Voice of Industry, MMA represents manufacturers in the Mississippi Legislature and U.S. Congress. MMA promotes a strong manufacturing environment within Mississippi and is a central source of information and assistance in industrial management; and

WHEREAS, Lex is involved with several philanthropic organizations, and it is with great pride that we acknowledge the contributions of an outstanding Mississippi businessman to his community and to the State of Mississippi:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby recognize Lex Lemmers, Director of Program Management and Resident Engineering at PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus as the 2023-2024 Mississippi Manufacturers Association (MMA) Chairman of the Board and commend his business and civic achievements.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Lex Lemmers and family, forwarded to the Board of Directors of the MMA and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
