STATEMENT

This bill prohibits the expenditure of State funds through private organizations for programs promoting patriotism and honoring service members of the Armed Forces of the United States, including the National Guard and Reserves, at sporting events in New Jersey.  The sponsor believes that patriotism should not have to be purchased with taxpayer dollars.  According to a Fox News Report on November 4, 2015 entitled, Should Congress Ban Pay for Patriotism at Sporting Events?, "the National Defense Authorization Act prohibits the Pentagon from spending taxpayer dollars on tributes at sporting events."
