SYNOPSIS
Requires public institution of higher education to annually provide equal funding to men's and women's athletic programs of same sport.

An Act concerning intercollegiate athletic programs at public institutions of higher education and supplementing Title 18A of the New Jersey Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. a. In the event that a public institution of higher education, for any particular sport, offers an intercollegiate athletic program for men and an intercollegiate athletic program for women, the institution shall annually allocate equal funding towards the support of each program.
b. A public institution of higher education shall ensure that the budget posted on its website pursuant to the requirements of P.L.2019, c.302 (C.18A:3B-84) includes the allocations provided to each intercollegiate athletic program at the institution, by gender.
2. This act shall take effect immediately.
STATEMENT
This bill provides that in the event that a public institution of higher education, for any particular sport, offers an intercollegiate athletic program for men and an intercollegiate athletic program for women, the institution must annually allocate equal funding towards the support of each program.
The bill further requires that a public institution of higher education must ensure that the budget posted on its website pursuant to current State law includes the allocations provided to each intercollegiate athletic program at the institution, by gender.
