Requires DOC to provide educational and employment counseling to inmates prior to release.

An Act concerning educational and employment counseling for inmates and supplementing Title 30 of the Revised Statutes.
Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:
1. The Commissioner of Corrections shall coordinate with employers, county colleges, and peer mentors to ascertain appropriate educational and employment counseling for inmates prior to their release from incarceration. Each inmate shall be provided with an individual employment plan prior to release.
2. This act shall take effect on the first day of the fourth month next following enactment but the Commissioner of Corrections may take any anticipatory action necessary to implement the provisions of this act.
STATEMENT
This bill requires the Commissioner of Corrections to coordinate with employers, county community colleges, and peer mentors to ascertain appropriate educational and employment counseling for inmates prior to their release from incarceration.
Under the bill, each inmate is required to be provided with an individual employment plan prior to release.
