     Requires psychologists to video record sessions conducted with children alleged to be abused or neglected.

An Act concerning psychologists and supplementing Title 45 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  In cases where there is an allegation of child abuse or neglect, a psychologist shall ensure that a video recording is made of each session conducted by the psychologist with the child who is the subject of an allegation of child abuse or neglect. 

 

     2.  A video recording made pursuant to this act shall be retained by the psychologist for a period of not less than 10 years.

 

     3.  This act shall take effect on the 30th day after the date of enactment.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

     This bill requires a psychologist to video record sessions conducted with a child who is the subject of an allegation of child abuse or neglect.  This requirement will protect the interests of psychologists and children should issues or questions arise regarding the therapy provided during the sessions.
