       AN ACT to amend the family court act, in relation to the number of fami-
         ly court judges of Rockland County
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1. Subdivision (k) of section 131 of the family court act, as
    2  added by chapter 158 of the laws of 1971, is amended to read as follows:
    3    (k) In the county of Rockland there  shall  be  [one]  TWO  additional
    4  family  court  [judge] JUDGES and the number of such judges now existing
    5  is hereby increased accordingly.  The compensation of  [the]  EACH  SUCH
    6  additional  family  court judge shall be the same as the existing family
    7  court judge in such county.
    8    S 2. This act shall take effect August 1, 2009; provided however  that
    9  the  additional  family  court judge provided for by section one of this
   10  act shall first be elected at the general election to be held in  Novem-
   11  ber 2009 and shall first take office January 1, 2010.
