GOTTFRIED, HOOPER -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to permitting the award- ing of punitive damages in all cases of discrimination, rather than only housing cases THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 1 Section 1. Subparagraph (iv) of paragraph c of subdivision 4 of 2 section 297 of the executive law, as amended by chapter 166 of the laws 3 of 2000, is amended to read as follows: 4 (iv) awarding of punitive damages, [in cases of housing discrimination 5 only,] in an amount not to exceed ten thousand dollars, to the person 6 aggrieved by such practice; 7 S 2.
