       AN ACT to amend the banking law, in relation to requiring licensed cash-
         ers of checks to file suspicious activity reports
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 371 of the banking law, as added by chapter 151  of
    2  the laws of 1945, is amended to read as follows:
    3    S 371.  Regulations.  The  superintendent  is  hereby  authorized  and
    4  empowered to make such rules and regulations, and such specific rulings,
    5  demands, and findings as he OR SHE may deem  necessary  for  the  proper
    6  conduct  of  the  business  authorized  and  licensed  under and for the
    7  enforcement of this article, in addition  hereto  and  not  inconsistent
    8  herewith.   SUCH RULES, REGULATIONS, RULINGS, DEMANDS AND FINDINGS SHALL
    9  INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, REQUIRING LICENSED CASHERS OF CHECKS  TO
   10  FILE SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY REPORTS.
   11    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
