          Committee on Judiciary
        AN ACT to amend the judiciary law, in relation  to  disqualification  of
          former jurors
          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section 1. Section 524 of the judiciary law is amended by adding a new
     2  subdivision (e) to read as follows:
     3    (e) Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, a person  who  has
     4  served on a grand or petit jury for more than fifty days, either consec-
     5  utively or in the aggregate, shall have the option to be deemed incompe-
     6  tent to serve again for the remainder of his or her life.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
