EPSTEIN, GALEF, THIELE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Education -- recommitted to the Committee on Education in accordance with Assembly Rule 3, sec. 2 -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation to authorizing and directing boards of cooperative educational services to establish an agriculture program for students The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Paragraph h of subdivision 4 of section 1950 of the educa- 2 tion law is amended by adding a new subparagraph 13 to read as follows: 3 (13) To establish, upon local interest from one or more component 4 school districts and subject to approval by the BOCES board of educa- 5 tion, an agriculture program that is designed to provide students with 6 the skills required to work in, and help sustain New York's agriculture 7 industry. Such program may include, but not be limited to, a partner- 8 ship with farms and other agriculture entities in the state that provide 9 students with hands-on experience combined with other educational oppor- 10 tunities. 11 § 2.
