         tee on Education
       AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation  to  providing  that  sex
         offenders shall be ineligible to serve on school boards
         THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section 1. Section 2103 of the education law is amended  by  adding  a
    2  new subdivision 5 to read as follows:
    3    5.  NO  PERSON WHO HAS BEEN CONVICTED OF ANY OFFENSE UNDER ARTICLE ONE
    4  HUNDRED THIRTY OR TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-THREE OF  THE  PENAL  LAW  SHALL  BE
    5  ELIGIBLE  FOR APPOINTMENT OR ELECTION TO THE OFFICE OF TRUSTEE OR MEMBER
    6  OF A BOARD OF EDUCATION.
    7    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
