          Committee on Transportation

        AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to establishing
          a central business district toll exemption for  certain  employees  of
          the fire department of the city of New York

          The  People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:

     1    Section 1. Section 1704-a of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 2-b to read as follows:
     3    2-b. Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary, no employee of the
     4  fire department of the city of New York in  the  title  of  firefighter,
     5  fire  marshal,  marine  engineer, pilot or wiper, and no employee of the
     6  fire department of the city of New York in  a  title  whose  duties  are
     7  those  of  an emergency medical technician or advanced emergency medical
     8  technician (as those terms are defined in section three thousand one  of
     9  the  public  health  law),  shall be charged a central business district
    10  toll.
    11    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
