       Introduced  by  M. of A. CRESPO, CAMARA, RAMOS -- read once and referred
         to the Committee on Children and Families
       AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to the health bene-
         fit exchange for current and former foster care children
         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
    1    Section  1.  Section  398-c  of  the social services law is amended by
    2  adding a new subdivision 6 to read as follows:
    3    6. (A) THE COMMISSIONER SHALL PROMULGATE  REGULATIONS  TO  ENSURE  ALL
    4  CHILDREN  CURRENTLY  IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM ARE ENROLLED IN THE STATE
    5  HEALTH BENEFIT EXCHANGE.
    6    (B) THE  COMMISSIONER  SHALL  PROMULGATE  REGULATIONS  TO  ENSURE  THE
    7  ENROLLMENT  OF  INDIVIDUALS  FORMERLY  IN FOSTER CARE WHO HAVE NOT HAD A
    8  PERMANENT HOME NOR FAMILY TO RETURN TO IN  A  HEALTH  PLAN  THROUGH  THE
    9  STATE HEALTH BENEFIT EXCHANGE.
   10    S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
