STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 9882 IN ASSEMBLY April 26, 2024 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. McDONALD, FAHY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Health AN ACT to amend the public health law, in relation to allowing paramed- ics to order certain controlled substances for use by a person with a substance use disorder to relieve acute withdrawal symptoms The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Subdivision 2 of section 3351 of the public health law, as 2 added by chapter 878 of the laws of 1972, is amended to read as follows: 3 2. Controlled substances may be ordered for use by [an addict] a 4 person with a substance use disorder or habitual user by a practitioner 5 and administered by a practitioner [or], registered nurse, or paramedic 6 to relieve acute withdrawal symptoms. 7 § 2.
