STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 10275 IN ASSEMBLY April 8, 2020 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. BRONSON -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Codes AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation to granting peace officer status to officers and members of the security force of Rochester General Hospital The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 85 to read as follows: 3 85. Officers and members of the security force employed by Rochester 4 General Hospital. The geographic area of employment for peace officers 5 employed by Rochester General Hospital shall include any public street 6 and sidewalk that abuts the grounds, buildings or property of such 7 hospital. These officers shall only have the powers listed in paragraph 8 (c) of subdivision one of section 2.20 of this article, as well as the 9 power to detain an individual for a reasonable period of time while 10 awaiting the arrival of law enforcement, provided that the officer has 11 actual knowledge, or probable cause to believe, that such individual has 12 committed an offense; provided however, that nothing in this subdivision 13 shall be deemed to authorize such officer to carry, possess, repair or 14 dispose of a firearm unless the appropriate license therefor has been 15 issued pursuant to section 400.00 of the penal law. 16 § 2.
