        CONGRATULATING  Jessica  Shaw upon the occasion of
        receiving  the  Girl  Scout  Silver  Award,  Cadette
        Scouting's  highest award and Girl Scouting's second
        highest achievement

  WHEREAS, Jessica Shaw, through her diligence and  rigorous  efforts,
has  achieved  Cadette  Scouting's  highest  and  Girl Scouting's second
highest  achievement,  the  Silver  Award;  the  Willistons,  Albertson,
Roslyn, Mineola (W.A.R.M.) Girl Scout Association Award Ceremony will be
held  on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Chaminade High School's Activity
Athletic Center in Mineola, New York; and

  WHEREAS, Jessica Shaw is a member of  the  Girl  Scouts  of  America
Troop 1825; and

  WHEREAS,  Girl  Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people
the goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the  importance  of
working  with  others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride,
and encouraging community service and success; and

  WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons  of  the  countless
hundreds  of  thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and

  WHEREAS, In 2020, Jessica Shaw completed a  Silver  Award  community
service project which she planned, developed and executed along with one
of  her  fellow  Scouts;  they  collaborated with the From Here to Haiti
(FHTH) organization to form a girls softball team in Haiti and organized
a three-month program that culminated in a tournament; and

  WHEREAS, To achieve this goal, Jessica Shaw and her friend explained
the game and presented their proposal to the diocesan youth director  in
Jeremie, who gladly accepted the challenge; and

  WHEREAS,  Jessica  Shaw  and her friend then shipped a barrel filled
with softball equipment for two teams, Team Jessica  and  Team  Brianna,
and  raised  funds to pay the coaches during the three-month period; the
girls also sent self-made instructional videos on different  aspects  of
the game; and

  WHEREAS,  Jessica  Shaw  is  a credit to her family, her school, her
community, her State and her Nation, and no doubt  her  future  will  be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Jessica Shaw, recognizing her achievement  in  earning  the
Girl  Scout  Silver  Award, and to wish her continued success in all her
future endeavors; and be it further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Jessica Shaw.
