        HONORING  Serenity  Dixon upon the occasion of her
        designation as recipient of the Youth  of  the  Year
        Award  by Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc. on February 17,
        2023

  WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in  accord
with  its  long-standing  traditions,  honoring  the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose  character  and  achievements  exemplify  the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and

  WHEREAS,  Attendant  to  such  concern,  and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Serenity Dixon upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of  the
Youth  of  the Year Award by Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc. to be celebrated
at its 30th Annual Pearl Red and White  Gala  on  Friday,  February  17,
2023, at Antun's, Queens Village, New York; and

  WHEREAS,   The   Stuy  Park  Lions  Club  is  part  of  Lions  Clubs
International, one of the largest service organizations  in  the  world,
and is deeply committed to meeting the challenges of public service; and

  WHEREAS,  As  a student at the Dr. Ronald E. McNair Public School 5,
Serenity Dixon and her classmate  instituted  the  Shower  Bus  program,
which are mobile hygiene units designed for those individuals who do not
have access to basic essentials such as a warm shower; and

  WHEREAS,  Serenity Dixon and her friend collected donated toiletries
for those in need and brought the Shower  Bus  to  the  front  doors  of
Public  School  5  for  people  to  have  a private, safe space to clean
themselves; and

  WHEREAS, Today, Serenity Dixon is a 9th grader  at  Bedford  Academy
High  School, and continues to use her voice and tireless efforts to try
to make the world a better place by working on  a  project  with  fellow
students campaigning for fresh water for the residents in Michigan; and

  WHEREAS,  The  success of the State of New York, the strength of our
communities, and the vitality  of  American  society  depend,  in  great
measure,  upon  the  dedication of young people like Serenity Dixon, who
use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; and

  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Serenity Dixon  for
her  outstanding  record  of  volunteer  service,  peer  leadership, and
community service, recognizing the value of her labors and  the  promise
of her future; now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED,  That  this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Serenity Dixon upon the occasion of her designation  as  recipient
of  the Youth of the Year Award by Stuy Park Lions Club, Inc.; and be it
further

  RESOLVED, That a copy of this  Resolution,  suitably  engrossed,  be
transmitted to Serenity Dixon.
