        HONORING  Denise  Cranford  Allen of Miles Funeral
        Home, Inc. upon the occasion of her  designation  as
        recipient  of  the Business Award by Stuy Park Lions
        Club, Inc. on February 17, 2023

  WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the  communities  across  New  York
State  are  reflective  of  the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
businesses and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and

  WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and  in  full  accord  with  its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Denise  Cranford  Allen of Miles Funeral Home, Inc. upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Business Award by  Stuy  Park  Lions
Club, Inc., to be celebrated at its 30th Annual Pearl Red and White Gala
on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Antun's, Queens Village, New York; and

  WHEREAS,   The   Stuy  Park  Lions  Club  is  part  of  Lions  Clubs
International, one of the largest service organizations  in  the  world,
and is deeply committed to meeting the challenges of public service; and

  WHEREAS,  Originally  founded by John and Edna (Martin) Miles, Miles
Funeral  Home  has  served  the  residents  of  the  Bedford  Stuyvesant
community  for  well  over  70  years;  in  the early 1990s Millicent H.
Cranford purchased the business and services several  Brooklyn  churches
including  The Concord Baptist Church of Christ, Bethany Baptist Church,
Our Lady of Victory, and St. Philips Church; and

  WHEREAS, In addition to her work with Miles Funeral Home,  Millicent
H.  Cranford  was  a  Deacon  at Concord Baptist Church and was actively
involved with various clubs including the Lions; and

  WHEREAS, Upon the death  of  Millicent  H.  Cranford,  her  daughter
Denise  Cranford Allen took over the business and continues to serve the
Brooklyn community with dignity and compassion during a difficult  time;
and

  WHEREAS,  It  is  the  sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown  a
long  and  sustained  commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

  RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its  deliberations  to
honor  Denise  Cranford  Allen  of  Miles  Funeral  Home,  Inc. upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of the Business Award  by  Stuy
Park Lions Club, Inc.; and be it further

  RESOLVED,  That  a  copy  of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Denise Cranford Allen, Miles Funeral Home, Inc.
